Where Innovation Meets Heart: Tumi’s Journey with Accesso Care

We’re grateful to celebrate the impact of Tumi Onaleye , who served as our Student Success Coordinator this past summer at Accesso Care. Before heading off to graduate school, she shared a thoughtful reflection on her time with us:

“Hi Everyone, it’s Tumi here!

Writing on behalf of myself, and before I begin my next chapter in graduate school, I want to take a moment to reflect on my time at Accesso Care and highlight the growth and impact I experienced as part of this team. It has truly been an incredible experience.

Working alongside Dr. Esther and Jimmy, I had the opportunity to contribute on both the client-facing and backend sides of healthcare, expanding resources for students and healthcare workers, and helping to build a foundation for a startup dedicated to breaking down barriers to care. Being part of a team that is driven by compassion and committed to supporting vulnerable populations has been nothing short of inspiring.

In my role, I worked closely with our students and healthcare trainees, helping to manage internal operations, guide them through certification processes, and ensure they had the resources needed to succeed. I worked on enhancing our internal database infrastructure, building scalable processes that linked healthcare trainees to employment pathways and long-term growth opportunities.

What I valued most was not just the meaningful work, but the culture. Accesso Care gave me autonomy, trusted me with responsibility, and welcomed my ideas.I was truly a part of a team. In the often unpredictable world of startups, I found a space where innovation meets heart, and where impact is measured not only in numbers but in lives touched.

This role has reaffirmed my passion for healthcare and my belief in the power of mission-driven entrepreneurship. I am deeply grateful for the kindness I was given, the vision of leadership, and the opportunity to grow in such a dynamic environment.

Though I am moving on to further my education, I will always carry with me the lessons I learned here and the pride of having been part of Accesso Care’s story. I look forward to watching this organization continue to grow and transform lives.”

At Accesso Care, working alongside young leaders like Tumi to advance immigrant health and economic mobility has been our constant pursuit. We hope more students and early-career professionals will discover the vital field of healthcare and human services, and we look forward to partnering with many more young people—especially those from immigrant families—who share this mission.

We’re proud of all that Tumi accomplished with us and excited to see what she will achieve in her next chapter. Thank you, Tumi, for your dedication and heart—you’ll always be part of the Accesso Care story.
